Invite The Unchurched To Easter Services

By Jean Leave a Comment

Picture of a Church CrossWe are just days away from Easter Sunday and this is a perfect time to invite your friends to church. Last Sunday, the Pastor told us that most unchurched people would come to church if someone just invited them.

Curious, I did a quick search on Google and found a poll showing that around 80% of the people who do not regularly attend a church said they would be very likely to come on Easter Sunday, if someone asked them.

Although I had been raised in the church, there was a season in my life that I didn’t go. In my late teens, I saw some hypocrisy in the church and when I moved out, I stopped going and put God on a back burner for quite a few years. At that time, I didn’t know the Scriptures and didn’t realize the hundreds of prophesies that Jesus fulfilled.

I even remember that a friend and I decided people were Christians because they just needed some kind of crutch. We couldn’t understand why anyone would want to go to church. Then… God started drawing me back. I even ‘felt’ an inaudible voice say ‘Welcome Home.’

Someone invited me to their church, and I couldn’t sing the worship songs for the first month. I was too choked up. They were the real deal. This was a much different church. It was not just a social gathering. Jesus is alive and He is God. People don’t have to go through life alone. What a great opportunity we have to just invite people this week since they will come, if asked. It could literally change their lives. Now I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to be a part of a good church.

Fresh Wind Fresh Fire Review

By Jean 1 Comment

Fresh Wind Fresh Fire‘Fresh Wind Fresh Fire’ is a excellent book by Jim Cymbala. Jim shares his experience as a young pastor in a struggling church. It’s the story of the birth of the Brooklyn Bible Tabernacle, in New York.

The secret to the success of their church happened when ordinary people chose to meet during the week to pray and call out for God’s presence and intervention in their lives and the lives of the people around them.

The book is filled with stories of how God transformed the lives of people caught in a lifestyle of drugs, alcohol, and more. For example, a transvestite was set free from drugs and his homosexual past.  Later, he fell in love with a Christian woman and they married.

Of the many stories, I didn’t know that Charles Finney had a prayer warrior, Daniel Nash, that went ahead to each city Charles was going to preach in. Daniel gathered people of prayer to intercede for souls to come to Christ. It reminded me of Billy Graham’s Crusades. They gather churches together to have them pray and to equip people to help at the events.

This book is filled with Scriptures and personal stories from the church. The emphasis is encouraging people to go deeper into prayer and shows what a difference it makes to have a praying and active church. The apostle Paul exhorted us to pray without ceasing, and this book backs it up with Scriptures and the lots of stories of changed lives.

Guitar Supports

Guitar Support Comparisons

This video compares three guitar supports. When sitting, guitar supports can be extremely helpful for playing with good posture. Foot stools work, but can put too much stress on your lower back. I used to experience both lower back pain and neck pain when playing the guitar for extended times.

The A-frame was my favorite guitar support for many years, but just a week ago or so, I was introduced to the ErgoPlay Guitar Support. It’s currently my favorite support. There is even a model for left-handed guitar players.

A Kind Spirit

Kindness – A Fruit Of The Spirit

I love God stories and love sharing them. This is one from a Pastor we know, in a country that persecutes Christians. He told us about one of his church members that had gone to jail for her faith. Although there wasn’t much food, she would always share it with the other prisoners. They could not break her kind spirit.

When she was released, a policeman was assigned to follow her. After following her for an entire year, he became a Christian too!

He told her that he had seen her kindness in prison and that he had been watching her for a year and had never met anyone with such a wonderful kind spirit. Then he asked her to marry him!

Surprised, this woman asked our friend, her pastor, what she should do. They did get married and are now serving the Lord together! Kindness is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit.

Walk in KINDNESS today. It’s a wonderful fruit of the Spirit!
