Beautiful Be Thou My Vision Video

By Jean Leave a Comment

This acapella arrangement of ‘Be Thou My Vision’ is exquisite! It’s an arrangement sung by Rob Robson. Not only is the music wonderful, the way it’s filmed is very clever. Here is the video arrangement for you to enjoy. You can find the words to the hymn beneath this video. If you would like to play this beautiful song on your guitar, click to see 4 Guitar arrangements of ‘Be Thou My Vision’.

Listen to this wonderful arrangement…

Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art.
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

Guitar Playing Tips From Soccer Observations

By Jean 2 Comments

soccerSeveral of my friends are glued to the TV watching the World Cup Soccer Games. Have you seen any of the games? They certainly run a lot! Was thinking about it this morning and came up with 7 tips guitar players can learn from Soccer.

1. Practice

You know these players have practiced all of their lives. When you spent time with a sport, or playing and instrument, you become a better player/musician. Like these Soccer players, guitarists can practice.

2. Love Playing

They got great by loving the sport. Like them, we can love playing the guitar. We can have a joy and passion learning to play this wonderful instrument. When you love something, it’s fun to spend time doing it. When you are playing worship songs, don’t you just LOVE expressing how much you appreciate our God?

3. Study To Improve Your Skills

To reach the level of playing they have, you know they have studied the best players and learned new tricks of the trade. Learning from guitar teachers will help you avoid some bad technique that can slow you up or injure your hands. Yeah, it’s not uncommon to hear people having pain playing their guitar.

4. Play Their Best On Stage

During the game, they are giving their all. When performing, we can play our best. When they fall, they just get up. If we mess up, don’t stop. Keep playing. People don’t notice any mistakes unless you make a big deal about it.

5. Keep Your Eyes On The Ball

Everyone playing on the field is focusing on where the ball is on the field. As a Christian, in whatever we do, we are to focus our attention on Christ, the Author and Finisher of our faith. We can have our eyes fixed on Christ even while playing the guitar. For years I used to play background music at parties, and spent the entire time worshiping our Awesome God.

Personal Promise Bible Discount Code

By Jean

Personal Promise BibleThis Bible could be a very special gift. A personal promise Bible is a Bible with your name inserted where there are promises. They just called me yesterday to say they now have personal Bibles available for the iPad, iPhone, and iPod.

I met Gil, the owner, at the Christian Booksellers Association a few years ago and he just emailed me today that they have set up a special discount code for our friends. To get a 5% discount on any of their Bibles or Calendars just enter the promo code ‘WELLES’ at check out and receive 5% off your entire order.

Sometimes it’s hard to get special gifts for holidays, like Mother’s Day, but I think this one is a great choice especially since it’s now available in more formats. I’m planning on getting one for a friend who just purchased an iPad. Click here to visit their website – Personal Promise Bible.

Invite The Unchurched To Easter Services

By Jean Leave a Comment

Picture of a Church CrossWe are just days away from Easter Sunday and this is a perfect time to invite your friends to church. Last Sunday, the Pastor told us that most unchurched people would come to church if someone just invited them.

Curious, I did a quick search on Google and found a poll showing that around 80% of the people who do not regularly attend a church said they would be very likely to come on Easter Sunday, if someone asked them.

Although I had been raised in the church, there was a season in my life that I didn’t go. In my late teens, I saw some hypocrisy in the church and when I moved out, I stopped going and put God on a back burner for quite a few years. At that time, I didn’t know the Scriptures and didn’t realize the hundreds of prophesies that Jesus fulfilled.

I even remember that a friend and I decided people were Christians because they just needed some kind of crutch. We couldn’t understand why anyone would want to go to church. Then… God started drawing me back. I even ‘felt’ an inaudible voice say ‘Welcome Home.’

Someone invited me to their church, and I couldn’t sing the worship songs for the first month. I was too choked up. They were the real deal. This was a much different church. It was not just a social gathering. Jesus is alive and He is God. People don’t have to go through life alone. What a great opportunity we have to just invite people this week since they will come, if asked. It could literally change their lives. Now I can’t imagine why anyone wouldn’t want to be a part of a good church.
