Mini Voice Lesson – Singing in your Mask

By Jean

mini-voice-lesson

It’s not uncommon to hear people that aren’t happy with their singing voice. Anyone can improve they voice with lessons. Here is a mini voice lesson with a few tips that can help your singing voice.

I remember when I wasn’t so happy with my voice too. I sang badly out of tune and had a very limited vocal range. Because I had so many guitar students at age 17, I started taking voice lessons. I took vocal lessons for around 5 years.

Later, I always got such nice complements for my singing at events. Sometimes I was even hired just to sing, without my guitar. That always surprised me because I knew how bad my voice used to be. Even today, I still use vocal warmup CD’s before leading worship just to make sure my voice is warmed up and that I’m singing properly.

The good news it that you can improve your voice too! Here’s a lesson to get you started. It shows how to sing in your mask. An easy way to find what’s called the mask is to hum. You should feel the sound coming from your face, or ‘mask’. Watch the lesson below for help in finding it.
