Answered Prayers

By Jean 11 Comments

prayer-handsWe have access to our Creator God 24/7, because of the cross. Before Christ, only the high priest could go into the most sacred place once a year. This holiday is still observed and is called Yam Kipper. It’s the holiest day of the year for the Jewish people.

In Christ, we can lift up our prayers and petitions to God any time, and any day. In fact, it says in Scripture that we are seated in the heavenly places with Christ! (Eph 2:6)

I remember talking about God with one of my guitar students a number of years ago. He told me he used to be a Christian. When asked, he said that he didn’t read the Bible and that he did not pray. He said prayer doesn’t work anyway.

The Missing Datebook

For about an hour I told him answered prayer after answered prayer and he then confessed that he actually had an answered prayer story too. He had been visiting his mom in Bakersfield and when he returned his datebook was missing. He called his mother who told him it wasn’t there.

For several days he looked all through his car and also through his apartment. It was lost!

His mother had a prayer group on Thursday Nights and during the meeting she called him. She told him that God had just told them his datebook was on the back seat of his car. He insisted that it couldn’t be in his car because he had thoroughly looked in his car and had even taken everything out of it. His mom said to just take another look now. He went to his car and was shocked to see his datebook in plain view on the backseat. [Read more…]

Irreducible Complexity of our Eyes

By Jean 2 Comments

Irreducible Complexity Of Our Eyes

One of the reasons it’s easy to see the existence of our Creator God is because of the irreducible complexity seen in cells, like the ones in our eyes. There is no such thing as a ‘simple cell.’ I watched a DVD last year that showed through the intense microscopes scientists have discovered that even the smallest cells are incredible complex.

Look at just the eye. There are 127 million rods and cones in each eye. To see, light passes through the lens and hits the retina. Then it is changed by light-sensitive cells into images that the brain can interpret. This all happens in an instant.

The evolutionary theory claims that the eye gradually developed over time. But to see, all of the parts of the eye had to be there from the beginning…. the iris, pupil, cornea, lens, muscles, rods, cones, with the nerves and brain. Can you guess what the odds would have to be for such a complex organ to have ‘accidentally’ formed?

I remember a preacher once talking about how a watch was made. If you took all the pieces of a watch in your pockets, how long would you need to shake them in your pocket for the watch to be formed. Without direction things tend toward chaos. There is a watch when a watchmaker meticulously assembles the pieces together. There is an eye when the Creator meticulously created man in His image.

On either end of the spectrum is firm evidence of an intelligent creator. In another article on this site, you can find an amazing video of Lou Giglio describing the greatness of God through the greatness of the Universe and greatness of our DNA. It’s the How Great Is Our God video. It will change the way you pray and think about God.

He is HUGE and He is Personal! My Newsletters always end with ‘Worship Him with all of your heart because He loves you with all of His. God exists and He is good!

Blue Planet Videos

By Jean Leave a Comment

I particularly love hearing great sermons, but sometimes you can’t even put in words what God has created. Then I never tire of seeing inspirational pictures and movies of what God has created. Recently, I’ve been enjoying a series of movies about our ‘Blue Planet‘. They are available from Amazon and easily viewed on my new Kindle.

The first movie opens with the largest animal on earth, the Blue Whales. They weigh hundreds of tons and are incredible beautiful. The footage is superb and when you realize that there is more life in the sea than on land, it’s staggering. Did you know that the largest animal migration happens every night? Sea animals from the deep come up in the dark to feed.

Our God has made so many beautiful plants and animals and many are revealed to us in these movies. I found myself continually amazed and grateful for what He has made! What an AMAZING and Loving God we have!

One of my prayer partners asked me to share the link to the videos and I thought I would share them with you too.

How Great Thou Art

By Jean Leave a Comment

“How Great Thou Art” was written as a poem in the late 18oo’s. A young Swedish preacher was inspired as he walked home from church one afternoon.

Carl Boberg was struck by how rapidly a thunderous storm appeared. It rained for just a short time, followed by a breathtaking rainbow.

That night he wrote the words. The original sown was called ‘O Store Gud’ which basically translated to ‘O Great God’ in English.

Through the years, the song, which was sung with the melody of a Swedish folk song, was translated into several languages. In the early 20’s, Mr and Mrs. Stuart Hine were English missionaries that moved to Poland. Stuart heard the song and later translated it into English. This is the version we know as ‘How Great Thou Art.’

Today, there are over 1700 recordings of this song! It’s is said to be the #1 favorite hymn in polls conducted in the US and in Britain. I’m certain that Mr. Boberg would be shocked to find that his inspired poem was translated and loved by so many Christians all over the world!

I’m currently filming a couple arrangements of this beautiful hymn.
