Ruth – Known by her Love

By Jean 3 Comments

I just finished reading the book of Ruth again. What a wonderful woman! Ruth had such a commitment to Naomi, her mother-in-law. She was loyal, a hard worker and humble. At the end of the book, the woman of Bethlehem told Naomi:

“May he (the son of Ruth & Boaz) be to you a restorer of your old age, for your daughter-in-law, who loves you, and is better to you than seven sons, has born him.”

The whole town saw Ruth’s love and beautiful traits!

She Wanted To Quit the Worship Guitar Class

By Jean 2 Comments

At the end of one of my worship guitar classes, Vicki wanted to quit. It was just the first lesson but she was discouraged that she couldn’t even understand how chord charts worked. It just seemed much harder than she thought!

I asked her, "Didn’t you sign up for the class because you wanted to learn to play the guitar?" She replied yes, but didn’t think she would be able to. It was just a 6-week class and I told her to at least complete the first 6 weeks. It was too soon to quit.

She agreed. By around the third week she came into the class with a big smile. She finally understood how chord charts worked. The 6 weeks passed and Vicki stayed in the class.

She not only stayed, but also became one of the best players in the class! I shared her story in a Newsletter several years ago. It’s a story that needed to be on this blog.

It’s too soon to quit. Do you have a dream? Does it honor God? Learning to worship Him with a guitar certainly does. Let me encourage you, like Vicki, it’s too soon to quit!

O Come O Come Emmanuel

By Jean Leave a Comment

My gift to you this Christmas is an arrangement I made for this lovely song. The Bible ends with a statement from Jesus that He is returning soon. It could be tonight. A pastor I know received Christ at the window of an AAA store, while buying car insurance.

Bill was extremely sad about a disappointing event and the customer service rep, a Christian, shared the Love of Jesus with him. That turned his whole life around. He even became a Pastor to help others find hope in this fading world.

Merry Christmas and blessings to you and yours in this wonderful season,
Jean

Guitar Ministry

By Jean 2 Comments

King David didn’t play the guitar, but if he had one I bet he would have written some beautiful worship songs with it!

Carlton and Sharon Jones are helping modern day ‘Davids’ acquire guitars in obscure places around the world. They started a ministry that gives guitars to missionaries – guitarministries.com.

They have been hosting a number of awesome guitar concerts in Baton Rouge, LA and using the profits to buy guitars to give to missionaries. They also own a guitar store in Baton Rouge – guitardreamers.com.

If you would like to donate an instrument or if you’re in the need of one for your ministry, you can contact them from their web site – guitarministries.com.

By the way, you can listen to one of their songs at the end of the ‘Fear Not’ article.
