Have you seen those new Video Podcasts apple produced? I saw one in a computer store the other day and was surprised at the quality those little podcasts produce. With those of you who own one, I’ve started making Video Podcasts. The first lesson of the Worship Guitar Class series is now up and downloadable. It’s available from the iTunes Directory or here’s the direct URL – www.web.mac.com/jeanwelles/iWeb/
John Doan – Harp Guitar
Joan Doan is an old friend of mine, and brother in Christ. He gave me his CD ‘Eire – Isle of the Saints’ a while ago and this last week, while recovering from Dental work, I probably listened to it a dozen times. John wrote the songs while he and his wife, Deirdra, were in Ireland. They love the Lord, and He inspired John to write such healing, enchanting music in a Celtic Style.
The notes in the jacket also say that John was also inspired by St. Patrick’s writings. John’s CD won the NAV award – “Best Celtic Album of the Year.” John has been on the ‘700 Club’ and other TV
Shows.
John Doan plays and writes incredible music on the Harp Guitar. It’s a bit hard to see in this picture, but the guitar has extra strings both above and below the regular guitar strings. John’s music is enhanced with other gifted musicians playing the violin, bagpipes, etc.

Relaxed Right-hand Technique
Here’s a brief, probably one minute, video to help you see how you can play with a relaxed Right Hand. At a Christian Guitar Convention I taught at a few years ago, I was surprised that out of 2 classes, maybe 50 students, only 2 had relaxed right hands. Most people play with way too much tension. It takes a lot of strength to play, but it’s easier to play if you relax between each note, or pluck.
A famous violinist said the same. Apparently in a Master’s Class this gentleman played a blazing fast instrumental. One of the students sighed and said something about how the piece must be exhausting to play. The Master replied, No, that he relaxed between each note.
Anyway… click on the image below to see the video. Hope it helps you.

Untouchables, part 3
It’s amazing what God can do through a life to touch a whole community. This is the follow-up on what He is doing among the Untouchables in Mori, India. (You should read the 1st & 2nd articles first.)
At the memorial service for Subbamma, Solomon Darwin sensed that God wanted him to continue the work that his Grandmother had started. Although he now lives and works as a University Professor in the United States, Solomon built a school to replace Subbamma’s mud hut school. He then obtained the funding to build a state of the art modern hospital.

They rejoice to see people from high castes starting to come to this new hospital. They are coming because it is much better than the public ones. It is completely staffed by Christians and Christ is the center of the Hospital and the school.
Solomon told us that Untouchables have darker colored skin and it’s considered unlucky to even see one. Persecution still exists today. They are denied an education and even medical help. I love that our God chose a broken woman to be the catalyst of healing between castes.
I asked Solomon what needs they had. He told me that they welcome Doctors & medical staff who would like to volunteer for short-term missions. He said they are quite close to the peaceful banks of river Godavari and the Bay of Bengal.
There is housing for visiting Doctors, dentists, technician, nurses or administrators.
He also said they are looking for funding for the hospital until it is self-supporting
in the next year or so.
I watched a delightful DVD about their school and was impressed with how well behaved the children are. There are over 200 students in the school. One of the students wants to be a missionary in the Middle East.
If God is putting it on your heart to help this wonderful ministry their contact information is at their website – hope-for-people.org. On their website you can pay for a surgery, sponsor a child in their school for $28 a month, or even pay for an Indian Doctor at $45 a month. Thanks for considering helping this wonderful work.
