In looking a bit deeper, I found a video from one of the song writers of this music, Stuart Townend. At the time of writing this article, the above video has been viewed over 11 million times! It has certainly resonated with the church. See the interview below…
He describes his thoughts behind writing the song. I find it similar to Scripture. The Apostle Paul loves to tell us our position in Christ. Then, after describing what Jesus has done for us, he uses the word ‘therefore’ and proceeds to talk about how we should live.
This is not only a song that verbalizes our high standing with God, but is a good model to think about when you write songs too. Like the old hymns from years ago, the song is filled with Scripture.
